"We had asked them to leave just 400 acres for cultivation and set up the car plant on the rest 600 acres of land at Singur, but the Tata authorities left." "And now the launching of Nano in this manner shows it is nothing but a stunt," Banerjee told a rally in support of the Trinamool candidate, bengali film actor Tapas Paul here.
Claiming the state government employees will not actually get the enhanced salary after election, Banerjee said the CPI(M) will never safeguard the interest of common people.
"The Left Front has forgotten the Das Capital and Lenin but Ratan Tata and Indonesian industrialist Salim are their friends now," she said. "We had opposed the Singur land acquisition but what about the Kalyani and Barrackpore industrial belts which have turned into grave yards.
About 55,000 factories have been closed leaving 15 lakh people unemployed in the 32 years of left rule. Was it our fault?," she wondered. Hinting at some Congress leaders in Nadia staying away from the TC campaign, she asked everyone to stand united.
