If every picture narrates a story, a thousand of them should have quite a tale to tell. That's about the number of photographs Crime Branch officials have recovered from the Oshiwara residence of missing ufffd and allegedly murdered ufffd fringe Bollywood actress Laila Khan. And cops say they are very illuminating.
The photographs allegedly reveal a nexus between the Laila family, important politicians of the state, and several IAS and IPS officers. Some of the seized snapshots also show the starlet with several officers from Mumbai police. “All of these have been kept as evidence in this case,” said a senior police officer from Crime Branch.

Well-placed sources in Crime Branch say Laila and her mother Saleena were involved in a hawala racket. In connection with this, the duo came in touch with politicians, bureaucrats and cops to move around their black money.
Money trail
“Both the women came in contact with Asif Shaikh and Parvez Tak — Saleena’s second and third husband respectively, now accused of killing the Laila family — through a hawala syndicate. Parvez and Asif utilised the money for anti-social activities in India,” said a Maharashtra ATS officer, requesting anonymity.
This apart, from the call records of Laila and Saleena, police have found contact details of several pimps involved in a high-profile sex racket in the city.
“We will summon all these people known to be part of a prostitution syndicate to find out what their connection is to Laila and her family,” said an officer from the police team investigating the case.
However, J&K cops still don’t have any evidence to substantiate Parvez’s claims. “He is changing his statement repeatedly and there is no concrete proof for the assertions he has made. So, it will be premature to trust his words and come to a conclusion,” added Das.
Believe what you will!
Meanwhile, after her stepfather and suspected militant Parvez Iqbal Tak confessed to Jammu and Kashmir police of murdering Laila and four of her family members at the actress’ Igatpuri bungalow, joint commissioner of police, Mumbai Crime Branch, Himanshu Roy revealed, “Laila and her sister Azmeena never reached the bungalow and went missing before reaching there.”
The Mumbai Crime Branch team in Jammu and Kashmir has failed to get the custody of Parvez. “Parvez Tak confessed to us that Asif, hooked by Laila’s property, gave him money and her Outlander car to help kill the whole family,” said Garib Das, DIG, Doda Ramban Range.
Police also revealed that Asif was aware Laila and family had earned crores of rupees from a hawala racket apart from possessing several properties at prime locations in Mumbai and nearby cities. So, Asif made a plan to kill them and capture all the assets of Laila’s family.u00a0
