Delhi police head constable who had fought an armed assailant refuses cash reward
After her brave act, comes her bold decision. Kiran Bala, the daredevil Head Constable of Delhi Police who had fought an armed assailant inside a Blueline bus single handedly, has decided to refuse a cash reward that Police Commissioner is reportedly going to give her. The reason: She wants a promotion.

"I want an out-of-turn promotion, not a cash reward. If they don't promote me to the post of additional sub inspector, I won't accept their reward. The Rs 7000 they are planning to give me are worthless for me. I could have been killed that day when I overpowered that criminal in the bus," said Kiran.u00a0
Sources said two days ago, Commissioner BK Gupta had called her to his office and congratulated her for the brave act. "The police chief has decided to give her a cash reward of Rs 5,000. Kiran was also called by the joint CP Deepak Mishra, who too has decided to giver her Rs 2,000 as reward," said sources at Commissioner's office. However, Kiran has decided not to accept the same. "I have decided that I want only promotion, not money," added Kiran.
The Head Constable is also saddened by the way Patel Nagar police treated the case of the assailant whom she had nabbed. Earlier, the police were not keen to lodge an FIR against the accused but when they did, they didn't charge him under relevant sections of IPC. Senior officials had said that along with section 27 of IPC, he should have been booked under other sections like 307 for attacking a police official.
"The local police seemed to be sympathetic towards the accused. They told me that accused didn't have any source of income and he was indulging in petty crimes to earn his livelihood. It was quite strange," said Kiran.
