Abhijit Sarkar, director of Pune Warror India, speaks about Yuvraj and his team

'The man with a golden hand' is how Abhijit Sarkar, the director of the Pune IPL team Pune Warriors India, describes Yuvraj Singh, the star performer of ICC World Cup 2011. Sarkar believes that Yuvraj got his form back only after he got into the Pune team for IPL IV.

u00a0The Sahara team behind 'Pune Warriors India' is in the midst of too many activities and Sarkar has his hands full with promotions, last-minute details and merchandising. Speaking to MiD DAY, he says that the management is confident off its new young team's ability.


Yuvi, the man with a golden hand
"If you look at the team we have both young and top-level players, Indian and international, and when it comes to T20 matches, a young team can pull of a win any time," Sarkar said. Asked about Yuvi's performance and the increased expectations and popularity of the team, Sarkar said, "He is now the man with the golden hand."

This also means that the prices quoted for the cricketer just before the World Cup has come at the right time and place."I completely agree, but I think that soon after Yuvraj joined our team he started playing better. So the team is lucky for him," Sarkar quipped.

Team promotions from today
With no buzz about the team, members or the merchandises before, the Sahara Group is launching their promotional activities from today. Sarkar pointed out that they were lying low because of the World Cup. "We will start off with a two-day road show in the city from today," he said. "We were waiting for the World Cup to conclude and then start our promotions. The same goes with the merchandises because the market was flooding with World Cup merchandises and no one would have picked it up. In fact, even the tickets have started selling."

IPL matches in Pune next year
Asked about the much-awaited Gahunje Stadium and its completion Sarkar said: "The work will finish in three to four months time. We will organise matches there from next year. We are planning to build
an international club on the lines of the one in Amby Valley. It will be better than the one in Amby Valley."
