Though Delhi University admissions are nearing end, DU SC/ST teachers association have demanded decentralised admissions for the category. They complained that there are only 15 to 7.5 per cent seats reserved for SC/ST students and the colleges have closed admissions for the students. However, the OBC students can get admission if they qualify on the basis of fourth and fifth cut-off lists.
Vishal Kashyap, a student who applied under the ST/SC category this year, said: "I wanted to take up B Com (H) in Khalsa College.u00a0 I have secured 76 per cent in the boards and it was my dream to study here. But I was offered B Com (pass) course in Motilal Nehru College (Eve)."
No time
"The ST/SC students are issued a slip where they are allotted their course and college and 3-4 days are given for procuring admission there. There are students who come from outside and if they miss the deadline, they are not granted admission. I receive 5-10 calls every day from students seeking regarding this. I think the varsity should at least relax the deadlines for outstation students," said Prof. G S Chilana, Grievance Cell member of Ramjas College.
