He has two dogs which he walks every night after returning from work, usually around midnight.u00a0 "Most of the time, I find the guards fast asleep during their night shift," Chawla told MiD DAY.
"But even after the complaints, no action was taken. I am paying Rs 4,000 towards maintenance, but with laxity such as this, I don't know for what I am paying such a huge amount," he said.
On May 14, Chawla was walking his dogs at 2 am and saw the guards asleep. He decided to wake them and give them a piece of his mind. The guards instead beat him up.u00a0
"He had let his dogs on us. We woke up and were frightened and angry. So we hit him," one of the guards told MiD DAY.u00a0u00a0

Hearing the commotion, another flat owner came to his rescue. Chawla then went to the president, Lalitha, to complain.u00a0
Lalitha reportedly said, "Why are you disturbing me at this hour? They are not commandos to stay awake all night."
Chawla then lodged a complaint at the High Grounds police station the next day. The police only suggested a change of the guards.u00a0
But when Lalitha called field officer Srinivas at Sentinel, he said that they were understaffed and could not replace them since they did not have any new trained guards.
"This was just one incident. If it happens again, I will take immediate action myself," Lalitha told MiD DAY.
