Anything that moves on wheels has been the passion of two Punekars, who go around calling themselves auto fanatics.
We're talking about Ashutosh Mahadik and Kamal Jagwani, who started the Big Wheels Motoring club. The aim was, in Ashutosh's words, "to get everything about motoring under one roof. This is the umbrella brand which will spawn off many activities in the near future. We are on Facebook and anyone can join this community."
In fact, there are already some 590-odd members of the Big Wheels Motoring community on facebook. Under this umbrella, the first offshoot is the Royal Enfield Club that they launched on September 25. "It has taken off and we already have 30 members," he told us proudly.
Fire lords
They call themselves firelords and meet every Friday at 8.30 pm near Sun N Sand, in front of Ashoka Mall. "We do a city ride and then, it's dinner for all of us. We really have fun," he said.
Kamal said, "We started Big Wheels with the idea of starting an auto community and bringing people of similar interest together."
Soon, they will be launching a Big Wheelers' Motoring Cafu00e9, a pub on the Mumbai-Pune highway on Dec 31, with a big bang to welcome the New Year.
"We will have theme parties for super bikers who will get select discounts on the menu, with music and the works," Ashutosh said.u00a0u00a0
"The second vertical will be a website, which will be totally interactive, like a social networking site with profiles etc. But this will be exclusively for auto enthusiasts," said Ashutosh.
He added, "We will have a launchpad section to launch aspiring auto journalists, photographers."
As Ashutosh concluded, "Motoring is my life, it's my passion.''
