With 1,02,433 followers on Facebook, Rahul Gandhi clearly appears to be the winner among counterparts and peers with similar pages dedicated to them. Priyanka, his younger sister, is not far behind with 61,848 followers, which was about the same as Rahul had five months ago.u00a0
Feroz Varun Gandhi, the estranged Gandhi cousin, is far behind on the popularity chart with just 1,967 fans.
Oscar Fernandes, AICC General Secretary, said, "Rahul Gandhi is on the move and is reaching out to everyone in the country. Here is a young man doing what he can to contact the maximum number of his countrymen.
He meets students heart to heart and mind to mind, therefore he is sure to have the largest following."
Educate the youth
H Hanumanthappa, Vice President of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee, said, "The problem is that the younger generation does not have a keen interest in politics and may be more attuned to sports and IT. Rahul is doing what he can, but this generation is still not happy and continues to be upset with politicians. We need to educate the youth and help them to grow."

Giving his take as to why other prominent political figures are lacking stronger numbers with regard to online followers, Member of Parliament, Milind Deora, said, "Of course we are reaching out to the masses. There are a lot of college kids who are genuinely interested in politics. And also, that entire population is not online and are scattered in various parts of the country."
