A family who had left for Vellore in the morning for a temple, was shocked to find their home broken into on their return. A police source said that the thieves made away with around 1 kg of gold valuables, by breaking open the window grill at the family's Tata Silk Farm, 4th Shop Lane house.
K Gopal, the house owner,u00a0 said, "As soon as we saw that our window grill was broken, we informed the cops who are now investigating."
The police had brought fingerprint experts and sniffer dogs who went to work immediately. Cops suspect that this might the work of professionals, who must have kept a watch on the house for a while. A case has been registered at Basavanagudi police station. The exact amount of gold, cash and other valuable items is yet to be ascertained.
