Extra wireless sets ordered to monitor Assembly polls more effectively

The State Polices' Wireless department has ordered 2,000 wireless sets and the same number of walkie-talkie sets from the Centre to monitor the Assembly polls in the state more effectively.
"There are many rebel candidates this time and their supporters may clash with the original party units. Thus, we needed additional walkies to ensure that such situations are taken care of," said a senior police officer.
Better monitorng
"We are increasing the number of walkies by 10 per cent to ensure that the Assembly polls are held without any untoward incident. The State Police Wireless department (SPW) has issued 402 wireless sets and 487 walkie-talkie sets that will be used on October 12 and 13," said Ravindra Sengaonkar, the deputy commissioner of police, special branch, who has been deputed tou00a0 monitor the overall bandobast in Pune on the day of polling.
