Two people died, while two others suffered injuries, after a tanker containing ammonia gas turned turtle at Tembhurni Phata near Indapur town on Pune-Solapur Highway around 5 am yesterday.

According to Indapur police, driver of the tanker Pallusingh Pardeshi (40), died in the accident.u00a0The identity of other deceased is yet to be ascertained.
The injured have been identified as Arvind Jadhav (24), and Balaji Ghadge (23), both are residents of Vishrantwadi.u00a0The tanker (MH 46 F 2258) was carrying ammonia gas from a Mumbai-based company to Hyderabad.
Police suspect that the driver may have dozed off, causing the accident. u00a0However, soon after the accident, the gas started leaking from the tanker and spread in the radius of 5 kms of the accident spot.
Those living in the area complained of sore eye, dizziness and vomiting tendencies, and were rushed to nearby hospitals. u00a0Besides, people rushed to safer grounds to avoid being affected by the gas. u00a0
