Acting on a complaint made by four labourers who were rescued earlier, police and labour department team carried out a joint raid at a brick kiln in Girdharpur village under Gyanpur police station area yesterday, SP Vikramaditya Sachan said.
Three children, eight women and nine others hailing from Bilaspur in Chattisgarh were rescued, he said adding that each worker was paid Rs 200 per week. Efforts are on to nab the kiln owner who managed to escape, police said.
