Naravane holds a masters degree in economics from Pune’s Fergusson College. Her father, Sunil, has retired from the Merchant Navy while her mother, Minal, is the director of Yashwantrao Chavan Academy for Development Administration (YASADA).
Naravane, who hails from Nagpur, has ranked 78th among 9.45 lakh candidates. Other toppers from Maharashtra, Swapnil Thambe, Abhijeet Shewale, Aniket Pathankar and Sandip Ghuge, have secured 84th, 90th, 92th and 105th rank respectively.
Last December, Naravane landed a job with the Indian Revenue Service and was undergoing training for the same before the results were declared. The Vimalbai Garware school alumnus says, “This is my dream come true, although I have a lot more to achieve. My wish is to become the IRB Governor and I have opted for the Indian Administrative Service”.
Speaking about the issues she hopes to tackle on assuming charge, Naravane says, “My ultimate aim is to work on women empowerment projects. I also want to focus on the education system and encourage students to join the civil services.”
Naravane, who was fascinated with beaconed cars in her schooldays says she realised she had to study hard if she wanted to travel in such a vehicle. “I studied for 12 to 13 hours every day,” she says. The UPSC conducted the exam on August 24 last year.
