Au00a0couple's three-month-old twins received severe burns last night when, according to the report submitted at the hospital, a lantern fell on the bed where they were sleeping.

The babies were rushed to Sassoon hospital around 11.30 pm, where they were given first aid before being shifted to the burns ward. The CMO on duty said the twins had received around 50 per cent burns and their condition was critical.

"Because they are just a few months old, their skin is very soft and they are heavily affected by burns. They are now in the burns ward and medication is on," the CMO said. "At present, their condition is stable."
