New Delhi: In the run up to the Lok Sabha polls, a total of 59 FIRs have been registered against political parties for violating Model Code of Conduct (MCC) till Tuesday.

Interestingly, only one FIR has been filed against Congress and no complaints of code violations have been received against BJP and AAP so far.
"Most of the FIRs are registered against other political outfits," said an election official.
A total of 297 persons are booked against whom preventive action taken under various sections of CrPC have been initiated, while 65 licensed arms are deposited and seven arms impounded.
A total of 85 persons are bound down under section 107/116 of CrPC.
The EC has also seized liquor in large quantity. So far 708 full bottles, 48 halfs and 7,338 quarters of country liquor have been seized. Likewise, 29 full bottles and 864 quarters of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) have been seized.
Taking action against defacement of property, the Delhi Election Commission has so far removed 475 hoardings from public property till date, out of which 33 were removed on Monday while a total of 52 FIRs are lodged for defacement.
A total of 30 hoardings were removed from private properties and seven FIRs are lodged for defacement of Private Property.
