Ranchi: In a joint operation of Jharkhand police and paramilitary forces, 59 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were recovered from Maoist-hit Latehar district of Jharkhand on Friday, the police said.

The search operation was launched in Kumandih jungle situated under Manika police station after a tip-off from an arrested Maoist guerrilla Mithilesh Yadav, according to the police.
The seized IEDs, which included 14 pressure cooker bombs and seven cylinder bombs, were defused by the bomb disposal team.
Maoist guerrillas are active in 18 of the 22 districts of Jharkhand.
