A baby left in a bag with a feeding bottle and baby clothes was rescued on Wednesday. This is the fourth such case in a month.

Another baby boy was found in a gutter in Vijaynagar last Wednesday. The child was abandoned in a gutter a few hours after birth. People then informed the police, who brought it to Vani Vilas Hospital, he said.

Last Friday, a six-month-old baby girl was found in a temple in Mahalakshmi Layout. The child is healthy. It is shocking that the parents have kept the child for six months and then abandoned it. In yet another incident last Tuesday, a mother abandoned her new-born baby girl in the Vani Vilas Hospital, soon after delivery. "This child is now in Shishu Mandir. We can't blame the mother alone. Who knows what circumstances she was in? Maybe she wanted to keep the baby, but was forced to abandon it," he said.

Jnanaprakash is also angry that the police don't try to find the parents. "If investigation is done, I'm sure the parents can be traced. Abandonment of babies has been increasing. We know that four babies were abandoned this month,u00a0 because we rescued them. There may be many who are abandoned and not rescued."
