The incident came to light when an eyewitness, Shambhunath Gupta, saw four people getting off a WagonR car and run away while carefully clutching a bag. Shambhu, who runs a tea stall in east Delhi's Geeta Colony, said: "I saw four men parking a car and walking away in a hurry. I grew suspicious and gathered some passersby to check what was going on. When we looked inside the parked vehicle, we saw a bag stuffed with cash. I have never seen so much of cash in my life," he said.

The locals made a PCR call after which the police arrived at the spot. Following initial investigations, cops took custody of the bag. The police said the bag contained around Rs 35 lakhs, but sources said the bag
contained more than Rs 5 crores. Later, the owner of the car also arrived at the spot.

Ravi and his business partner Rajesh, who are in the construction business, were heading towards Daryaganj from Laxmi Nagar when the incident happened. They were taking along the cash to pay somebody. The two claimed that there were two bags containing cash.

"Our car was intercepted near Ramesh Park by four armed youth who came riding in motorcycles. "They asked us to get out off the car and drove with the two bags in it," said Ravi in a statement to the police. However, the duo claimed that they did not know how much money the other bag contained.u00a0
