Call man with demand for Rs 3L more after releasing him on Rs 2L ransom

The kidnappers, who claimed to be associates of underworld don Ravi Poojary, released him on a ransom of Rs 2 lakh but later called him to threaten him with dire consequences if he failed to pay up another Rs 3 lakh by today. Ramu has now sought police protection.

Poojary gang claim

In his complaint to the Tyagarajnagar police, Ramu stated that the gang of three said they wanted him to meet their boss for a big contract. But they took him to an isolated place and beat him up.

The goons allegedly told Ramu that their boss Ravi Poojary was angry that he was bagging important contracts by quoting lowest prices and he wanted them to kill Ramu. They said if he wished to live, he had to pay them Rs 5 lakh.

Back home

Ramu told them he had only Rs 2 lakh in his house. Since he had the key to the locker with the money, they took him to his house.

"They took the money, snatched my wallet containing driving licence and a photograph and my gold chain worth Rs 28,000. Then they took me back in the car and dumped me at NR Colony before speeding away," he said in his complaint to the police.

Hello again

Later, one of the kidnappers called him up on his cell phone, threatened him to not reveal this incident to anyone and to arrange the remaining Rs 3 lakh by Monday.

"My business rivals might be responsible in leaking information about me which led to this kidnap," Ramu told the police.

u00a0The police investigating the case said, "We can be sure whether the kidnappers belong to Ravi Poojary gang only after they were caught."

Past Close shave

"The same kidnappers had called me on July 7 with the same business proposition they finally lured me out with when they kidnapped me. I had gone with them to meet their boss, but we turned back when we came to know the boss had gone somewhere else. Had I met his boss, I would have been kidnapped that day," caterer Ramu told the police.
