WHAT'S ON checked out Royal Cane, and came away impressed with the store's cane and rattan collection
If you want to add instant charm to your home, sprinkle some bamboo, reed, rattan or cane furniture all over. Their uniqueness comes from the hand craftsmanship. They're artistic, elegant, durable yet lightweight and easy to move around.
Designs: Royal Cane customises varied forms and styles of furniture for all kinds of classical and modern living spaces. With raw material coming in from Assam and Karnataka, their cane furniture suits any type of climatic conditions. The store also helps the clients select the most suitable furniture for each living space.
Range: They stock a variety of well-fabricated, carved, polished rattan and cane furniture. They have sofa sets, cabinets, stools, lamp shades, designer chairs, rocking chairs and hanging chairs, all made from cane and rattan.
We liked: A fruit basket (Rs 450), made up of walnut sticks from Jammu and Kashmir, was interesting. The cane sticks were interwoven, giving it an elegant look. A rattan coffee table along with chairs (Rs 15, 000) would make perfect garden furniture. The hanging lamp-shade (Rs 650) is ideal for a romantic evening. A single piece chair with extended sides (Rs 950) could help you accentuate a corner, if paired with brightly-coloured cushions.

Cleaning tips
>>Brush the furniture regularly with a natural bristle brush to keep from dust and grime from settling into the gaps between the strands.
>>Use a mild, natural soap, mixed with a little borax to wash the furniture. Do not soak or use too much water. Damp a cleaning sponge or cloth and use the lather to clean the furniture. Leave to dry naturally.
>>If the furniture is stained, brush it with a solution made of water, salt and lemon juice. Remember, not to let the furniture get too wet.
>>Once the furniture has dried, apply a little furniture oil to keep it supple and to prevent cracking.
