Aditya Thackeray seeks Modi's support to take 'Digital India' to Maharashtra schools

New Delhi: Aditya Thackeray, the son of Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday, and told him about a campaign to realise Balasaheb Thackeray's dream of reducing the burden of children's schoolbags, and to use technology for improving the status of education in Maharashtra.

"Today, I met Prime Minister Narendra Modi. We had discussion over his dream of 'Digital India' and development of technology. Shiv Sena has started a new campaign in the whole of Maharashtra, especially in Mumbai, wherein we have inserted the whole syllabus, text books, audio-visuals and assessments of eighth, ninth and 10th standard in a tablet. We had discussion about the dream of Balasaheb Thackeray where he wanted to reduce the weights of the school bags. And that's why we have inserted the text books in this tablet,"Aditya Thackeray, told the media.

"I also briefed him about the virtual classroom program in BMC. We have connected 200 schools through satellite where a teacher can have a two-way interaction with the students. We have also invited him to interact with the students of BMC through virtual classrooms whenever he comes to Mumbai," he added.

He also said that the Prime Minister was impressed with the idea and asked for the expansion of this campaign in the entire nation.
