Au00a0murder case was cracked after over four years with the CID arresting the lover of an 18-year-old woman slain in September 2006.

The CID produced Arvind Ashok Mote (27), a resident of Solapur, in court on Monday for the September 10, 2006, murder of Priyanka Nanaware.

Priyanka's medical report indicated death due to shock caused by injuries and consumption of poison. At the time, the Sahakarnagar police station registered a case of accidental death. Later, Narayan Khaire, the then senior police inspector of the police station, filed a case against Priyanka's father Yashwant Nanware (46) and his brother Nikhil (21), residents of Gokulnagar, Katraj-Kondhwa Road, for forcing her to consume poison.u00a0

Yashwant was later released on bail and anticipatory bail was granted to Nikhil. The police had filed a chargesheet in the case, which was transferred to the CID in 2008.

The CID started investigationsu00a0 afresh and found two eyewitnesses who indicated Priyanka had gone to her uncle's place and met Mote there; Priyanka urged him to marry her but Mote refused and beat her up. As two witnesses said Mote beat up Priyanka a day prior to her death, the CID arrested him for her murder.

The CID recovered some pills in Priyanka's sack, which were from Mote's Sidhdheshwar Medical Shop.

In court, the prosecution argued that the CID wanted to know whether the poison consumed by Priyanka was from Mote's shop. The court remanded Mote in police custody till February 21.
