"We had installed the Dolby-Digital sound system in 1999 and will now upgrade it with the latest acoustics technology and ultra-modern projection machines," said Mukund Gondhalekar, owner of Alaka Theatre.

Gondhalekar claimed that the management would adoptu00a0 the latest technologies that are available. "Hence, we are raising funds from people who are in the exhibition business who believe in the 60-year-old legacy of Alaka," he said.

Gondhalekar added that the renovation programme will be carried out step by step.

Speaking about the booming multiplexes in the city, he said that people don't appreciate multiplexes so much.

"Unlike multiplexes, we believe that entertainment should be affordable for the common man," he added.
