Allahabad High Court lawyers today abstained from judicial work, saying that they and their litigants were facing hardships due to the recent uploading of a new Case Information System (CIS). They also claimed that the new system was being adopted without proper preparations.

The strike was called by the Allahabad High Court Bar Association (AHCBA) and its president I K Chaturvedi alleged that the new CIS system is being adopted in a haste, without proper preparations. This is causing immense hardships to the lawyers as well as litigants, he claimed. "Other demands of the lawyers are that clients entry to the high court should be made easy and at least up to the chamber of lawyers.

"Due to tough pass system, clients remain outside the high court and ultimately fall prey to unscrupulous elements," Chaturvedi said. He demanded that the pass system should be made mandatory for those clients who wish to attend court.
