Students from the city aspiring for the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) have expressed solidarity with the family of Nashik additional district collector Yashwant Sonawane, who was killed by the fuel mafia last month. In a letter to his wife Vijaya, they have said they are one with her in her sorrow and will always support her in future.

The letter concludes with the words: "We all are proud of you!"
Rs 10,000 crore, was set ablaze on January 25 while trying to prevent some men from indulging in fuel theft.
The initiative of writing a letter to the Sonawane family was taken by Sachin Thite (21), a fresh graduate appearing who is to appear for the MPSC examination on February 13. His friends who are also appearing for the exam ufffd Jayashri Bhosale, Ashok Yadav, Dnyeshwar Aatkari, Manali Dhumal and Nivedita Rathod ufffd joined him and contributed to the letter.u00a0
"Sonawane was a martyr as he sacrificed his life to unearth the roots of the oil mafia in the state," said Thite. "We all are inspired by his heroic act. To share the sorrow of the Sonawanes, we decided to write a letter to his wife."u00a0
u00a0The letter was sent by Thite to the District Collector's office on February 5. "We want to share her sorrow with her and also give her emotional support," said Manali Dhumal.
