Pune: An Army jawan posted in Dehradun had come home to resolve matters with his wife, who had two weeks ago filed a domestic violence case against him in Satara but the meeting went awry. The jawan slit his wife’s throat and hung himself to the fan on Wednesday night in a hotel.

Shrikant Balashaheb Nimaje (30) had come to Satara on February 21 to meet his wife Naina (25), who had moved out of her in-laws’ house and into her parents’ house in the same city.
“They got married three years ago and also had a two-year-old son Aaradhya. When Naina approached us to file a a case of domestic violence, we initially thought of asking them to for couple’s counseling but she insisted on filing a case. So we lodged the case and informed the Army,” said Inspector Padmakar Ganwat of Satara city police station.
Since Naina didn’t want to meet him at home, he called her to a restaurant at 11am and when the argument went ugly and loud, he asked her to come to a room he had booked for their late anniversary celebration. He was in Dehradun during their anniversary. Naina told her parents and was hoping for a positive outcome. The waiter while cleaning the corridor saw Shrikant hanging through a window.
“When the waiter alerted us, we broke the door and found him hanging. We identified him after going through his luggage. No suicide note was recovered,” said Ganwat.
