National-level football player who lost her leg in a rail mishap was discharged from AIIMS yesterday
Arunima Sinha (23), the national- level football player who lost her left leg after being pushed from a running train by robbers, was discharged from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) trauma centre on Tuesday. The incident took place near Bareilly, UP on April 11. 
Arunima alias Sonu was first admitted to a Lucknow hospital where her leg was amputated, but it got infected. She was then shifted to the AIIMS trauma centre on April 18.
"She has been fitted with a US-made, customised prosthetic limb now. Though she is still limping, she will soon be able to walk around like any normal person," said Dr M C Misra, Chief, AIIMS Jai Prakash Narayan Apex Trauma Centre.
Meanwhile, Arunima said the injury will not stop her from participating in the next Olympics. "I have lost my leg, not my life. I hope to be a part of Paralympic Games," she said.
The Uttar Pradesh university volleyball team player has also received monetary help of nearly Rs 7.5 lakh from various sources, including contributions from Team India members Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh.
During her stay at the hospital, she also undertook beauty courses offered by Shahnaz Husain.
