Ex-top cop of Mumbai Arup Patnaik is now out of danger and recuperating well in a regular room, said his doctors yesterday.
On Wednesday morning, Patnaik, the former commissioner of police, complained of chest pains after which he was rushed to Jaslok Hospital and admitted to the ICU.u00a0

“When Patnaik came in, he was suffering from chest pains. So, we carried out an ECG and it revealed that Patnaik had suffered a mild heart attack. An angiography and an angioplasty with stenting to his right coronary artery was carried out and he is now stable,” said Patnaik’s doctor Dr AB Mehta.
On Thursday, doctors told MiD DAY that Patnaik was recovering well and would be discharged soon. Dr Mehta added that he was doing fine and had been shifted out of the ICU and would be discharged in a few days time.
Even though rumour mills suggested that Patnaik’s transfer had taken a toll on his health, sources in the Mumbai police stated that Patnaik has a history of chest pain and had also been admitted in 1999.u00a0
