Builder Umesh Goel, accused of paying a person to carry out an attack on real estate agent Arvind Kaushal (40), was denied anticipatory bail by the court of Additional Sessions Judge N K Upasane yesterday.
Kaushal was brutally assaulted on April 8 outside his office in Kalyaninagar by two people. The Yerawada police have already arrested four suspects, Altaf Momin, Ganesh Chonde, Azar Kalim Shaikh and Nasim Mohammad Ansari, in the case. Goel, the prime suspect, had filed anticipatory bail application to avoid arrest.
Praying for interim relief, the defence had argued that Goel was falsely implicated by Kaushal after he refused to given in to his extortion demands of Rs 21 lakh for not pursuing his complaint about illegal construction work on the premises of the Ganga Constella project in Kharadi.
