Security men catch two people, but third person escapes
Satish Kulkarni, joint MD of PMPML, narrowly escaped getting his face blackened yesterday by a group of young people who had come to see him in his office at the PMPML building. Three youths came to hold discussions with Kulkarni at 1.30 pm, and, while they were talking, suddenly lunged towards the official in an attempt to blacken his face. Kulkarni's colleagues and security men rushed into his cabin and caught two of the youths, but the third person escaped. The two people who were caught were handed over to the Swargate police.

One of the youths was identified as Chetan Rajput (21), but no information was available on the others.
R N Joshi, MD and CEO, PMPML, said there had been an attempt to blacken Kulkarni's face but he was not sure who the culprits were. "We called the police and handed over the youths to them for further investigations," he said. "We are not yet sure about who the youths were and whether they were associated with PMPML or not."
There has been an issue with the PMPML workers' union in recent days over the distribution of the Sixth Pay Commission, but officials said it was too early to say whether yesterday's incident was related to it or not.
"We are giving additional security to Kulkarni after this incident," said A N Sonwane, senior security officer from PMPML. Nobody from the PMPML Workers' Union was available for a comment.
