Rickshaw drivers complain that cops stationed at prepaid counter at Yeshwanthpur railway station favour few drivers causing financial losses to others

Autorickshaw drivers protested at Yeshwanthpur railway station around 2 am against the traffic police at the prepaid autorickshaw counter. More than 100 drivers collected to protest against not being allotted long distance passengers by the traffic police.

"We wait in the queue for hours but at the end we are asked to hire a passenger staying within a 5-km radius. Other autos parked outside the queue are given long distance trips."

"We wait sleeping in the autos but even after that we are not able to earn enough money because of the cops' biased behaviour at the prepaid counter," said Nagaraj, another driver.

u00a0"The cops favour few auto drivers and allot them long distance passengers as they help to pick up bodies of those who die in railway accidents," said auto driver Loknath.

The traffic constables at the autorickshaw prepaid counter said, "We agree that we allot long distance trips to these three auto drivers as courtesy because when we call them they report at any point of time. We call them to pick bodies of people who die in train accidents. Now even drivers who protested have agreed to do this job and we'll assign them to pick up the bodies."
