In yet another incident of road rage, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) councillor of ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and his brother were allegedly beaten up by four persons in Vikaspuri area of west Delhi on Monday morning.

"The incident took place when the councillor was coming from Keshav Puram and going towards Tilak Nagar," said a police officer.

"Balbir and his brother Vikas were in a Honda City car, when they collided with the Tata Ace tempo in which four youths were travelling. The boys were identified as Rajesh, Amit, Gopal and Amit, all aged between 21 and 25 years. The incident was reported around 11.30 am at Vikas Kunj in Vikaspuri.

Though the collision was minor, the two groups started arguing. The scuffle became ugly and the youths, who work for a transport company and were shifting some household articles at the time, started beating the councillor and his brother," a senior police official said.

A passerby then made a PCR call and the victims were rushed to the Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) hospital, where they are still under observation. All the four assailants were apprehended from the spot. A case under appropriate IPC Sections has been filed against them at Vikaspuri police station.

Balbir is a BJP councillor from ward number 116 of Vikaspuri (east). He lives with his family at WZ-29-A/2, Keshopur, Vikaspuri. Vikas is the block head of BJP.
