Police said BJP General Secretary of Ajnala town Ashok Taneja was arrested on Wednesday night on the basis of a complaint lodged by his 24-year-old daughter. The victim was accompanied to the police station by her mother.
After registering a case, police arrested Taneja who complained of severe pain in the chest. Though doctors examining Taneja found him normal, he has been kept at the Ajnala Government Hospital for further observation.
The case comes close on the heels of a Mumbai businessman being arrested for raping his daughter for nine years.
