Food: Yummy
Service: Attentive
Ambience: Lovely
There's something about the name that makes By The Way a hotbed for college-going youngsters. We figured that it's thanks to the chilled ambience, affordable meals and suitable food for the diet-conscious soul.

The art of staying afloat while eating
The eatery reminded us of Mediterranean hotels where the whitewashed walls, white curtains, rustic floors and candlelit surroundings invite you inside to enjoy the cool sunset breeze. The cane furniture is complimented by colourful cushions and the blue and white marble slabs spread underneath the tables made us feel as if we were afloat on water.
The suspenders and hats worn by the servers also adds to the old-world charm of the place. As does the fact that the doors have thick, jute ropes in place of handles.
The service is attentive and they will custom-make a dish for you if you don't like what's on the menu.
Boring veggies get a makeover
By The Way has two different menus: one for breakfast and another for lunch and dinner. Breakfast is served till 12.30 pm, keeping inu00a0 mind that youngsters wake up late. For eggetarians, there is a huge spread and they even allow you to make your own omelette.
Try their Egg Benedict (Rs 60), which is a toasted bread bun topped with a slice of chicken salami, poached eggs and hollandaise sauce.
Vegetarians can look forward to yummy Steamed Vegetables (Rs 60), which include pieces of carrot, zucchini, broccoli and other vegetables stir-fried in olive oil and seasoned with herbs. We couldn't resist asking for an extra plate of veggies. The Tofu with Black Pepper sauce (Rs 80) is spicy and delectable.
The Veg Thai Red Curry (Rs 160) is a tasty and spicy traditional blend of red chillies, lemongrass, galangal, kaffir lime leaves, coconut milk, basil leaves, beans, mushroom, cauliflower and carrots.
The Thaison Vietnamese Chicken (Rs 180) included shredded pieces of chicken and fried potatoes. The dish is topped with a sauce made of butter, red wine, chopped parsley and red chillies. As the dish isn't very spicy, it can be had without rice or roti. The shredded chicken was better than what we had had in a long time.
The Iced Seekh Kebab (Rs 195) is made using grilled chicken marinated in spices, served with an equal quantity of ice.
The Mutton Nalliyon Ki Tari (Rs 200) is basically leg of lamb in a gravy. We found it had an overpowering taste of ginger and garlic, and was not one of our favourites on the menu.
