Grammy award-winning Japanese musician Kitaro is all set to soothe the capital. We suggest you sing to his tune

A messiah from the Far East is stopping over at Delhi to play a melody most of us have forgotten that of peace.
Fifty-six-year-old Kitaro is a Golden Globe and Grammy winner, composer and multi-instrumentalist who does not take you by fame, but flights of fantasy. Being brought in India by Bajaj's BEAMS group, his Peace & Love tour will be halting in the city soon. A foretaste follows.

Kitaro break banta hai! The Japanese musician amidst a performance

Born free

"Nature inspires me. I am only a messenger," he had once said. Kitaro's style combines folk, electronica, new-age and instrumentals. While embracing influences from many cultures, his music is deeply rooted in the traditions and mystical sensibilities of the East. Born and raised into a Buddhist/Shintoist family in Toyohashi Prefecture in Central Japan, his humble upbringing gave him an early feel for simplicity and grandeur of nature.

Expect a blend of piano, synthesiser, keyboard, percussion and guitar with freedom and intensity like that in a child's play, and stillness like that of the strongest mountains. Need proof of dedication? Since 1983, the artist's reverence for nature has led him to give annual thanks to Mother Nature in a special 'concert' on Mount Fuji on the day of the full moon of August, he beats on the traditional Taiko drum from dusk to dawn... his hands often become bloodied, but he continues to pound. Hats off!
