It also helps people get updates on emergencies like accidents and fire breakouts," said Prabhakar Bayeri, ACP (traffic), East.
"The efficacy of the concept is being tested. It will gradually be installed across the city. The one that has been installed at the Raja Ram Mohan Roy Road is meant to help visitors to IPL matches," he added.
City commuters are welcoming of the VMS initiative. "The new sign board is of real help," said Gopal B, a regular commuter from MG Road to Vijaynagar.
"I get to know of the traffic on Mysore Road and plan my route accordingly. It also helped me recently after I had been to the second IPL match.

Prabhakar expects 10 more VMSs to be installed in the city by the third week of this month.
"While the system is giving us results, it will be more effective once more people start using it. Spreading awareness about the usefulness of VMSs will help."
