There is a great cross-section of wines from almost a dozen countries in Olive
As if we need reason to visit Olive, it has a new wine bar. Bar, not in the way Delhi knows it, but bar in the way Sabina and AD Singh see it: an intimate corner within Olive Beach at Sardar Patel Marg, done up in warm shades, with a quirky sensibility and rustic charm shamefully uncommon in Delhi.
Even an ordinary glass of wine would be enough to spend an evening in this eclectic bar but then that is not what we expect from Olive. There is a great cross-section from almost a dozen countries, including Condrieu made from Viognier from Northern Rhone, Levarie made from Eronese grapes, Reisling from Schloss Vollard (the world's oldest vineyards), Syrah from Sicily, Duckhorn Paraduxx made from Zinfandel and Carmenere Punto Nino from Chile.
What we really appreciated were the prices and the Best in Class wines: Le Volte from Ornellaia (Rs 4,200), Chateau Gazin, Pomerol 2001 (Rs 5,300) and Le Pagodas de Cos Saint Estephe 2004 (Rs 5,500). Also, there are about 14 wines available by glassu00a0-- priced from Rs 275 to Rs 750. We must say that these are well-selected because they range from robust, full wines to acidic, leathery ones, both in the red and white selections!
Of course, we would not have good wine without sampling some of Chef Saby's always-artistic fare. The Feta-stuffed queen olives are a treat and the Saut ufffded asparagus was just what we needed to enjoy the wine ufffd and give us reason to visit the Wine Bar yet again.
