Barring minor complaints, CET exam goes off smoothly

Over 14,145 students from the district appeared for the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MH-CET) yesterday, which was held at 31 exam centres across the city.

The qualifying exam enables students’ admissions to MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, Physiotherapy and BSc (Nursing) courses in the state. Some students, however, have raised objections, alleging some tough questions. Some said some questions were not from the syllabus.

“The Biology paper was quite tough. I found many questions were not there in either the textbook or NCERT book. Physics and Chemistry were okay,” said a student of Fergusson College.

Sandeep Devdhar, director of Devdhar classes, said, “I am satisfied after finding many application based questions in both Biology and Chemistry paper. However some questions in the Biology paper were not even in the NCERT textbook. But overall, the exam was good. DMER strictly followed the NEET format in today’s CET.”

Director of DMER, Pravin Shingare said, “The exam went off smoothly in the state without any major complaints from students.” He added, “If any student has objections over the nature of some questions, he or she can send their written complaints to DMER, which will then be put before an expert committee of DMER.”

Dr N P Kukde, Pune district liaison officer for the exam, said, “We haven’t reported any malpractice or untoward incident. The papers were distributed to all centres at 7.30 am and exam started on time. The result will be declared on or before June 14.”
