Expressing hope about her safety, family members of Kranti Prahlad Shirsat — the 44-year-old woman from Bhugaon near Pune, who was among 227 passengers on the Malaysia Airlines flight that has disappeared off the coast of Vietnam — said, “We are positive that she will return securely.” Kranti is among five Indians on the flight, and was on her way to meet her husband in North Korea.
Kranti is a teacher, but had left her job recently. Her husband is returning to India after the news of the missing flight breaking. The couple has two children – Rahul and Yashwant – who stay in Pune at a relative’s home. Rahul studies in standard XI and Yashwant in standard V.
“We are in direct contact with Prahlad regarding the status of the investigations of this case. We are hopeful that she is safe and will soon return,” said Satish Shirsat, Kranti’s brother.
