A professor from Birla College in Kalyan was caught taking bribe of Rs 2000 from student for passing him in two papers of final examination of Bachelor of Arts.

The accused Bhimrao Kharat, Assistant Professor from political science department under the Arts stream has come under the scanner with the incident. While police investigation is on, name of the reputed college from Kalyan has also come under the cloud of controversy.
Superintendent of Police, ACB Datta Karale, said, "A trap was led after a male student complained about the professor asking for bribe. Initially the professor had demanded an amount of Rs. 3000. However after negotiations, the deal was finalised for Rs. 2000." The accused was caught red handed while taking a bribe.
When contacted principal of the college, Dr. Naresh Chandra, he said, "The college has taken a much serious stand in the case. We will also conduct internal investigation and the police investigation also has our complete support. The management of the college has taken a strict stand that activities like these will not be tolerated. It is very unfortunate that someone was indulging in an act like this."
