Bloom & gloom in 2011

Theu00a0 year 2011 will be ominous for the city but will also bring in success according to astrologers and numerologists. While they predict acts of terrorism and rise in corruption, they also predict that the city will flourish and attain fame owing to possible inventions in the fields of Information Technology and communications.

According to numerologist Shwetta Jumani, Dr Madhusudan Ghanekar, astrologer and Vice Chancellor of Atharv Jyotish Vidyapeeth, and Dr Sunanda Rathi, Editor of Bhagya Sanket magazine 2011 is the year of Uranus for the city, which has both negative and positive impacts.

"Uranus is known for misunderstanding and maladjustments. Many involved in scams will be caught too," said Jumani. "Some from last year's scams will be penalised (hopefully) because everybody wants them punished.

There is possibility of political upheavals in many parties. The share market might crash this year and people will spend more."

Rathi said that 2011 is the year of many scams. "This is because people are focusing on short time gains rather than thinking seriously about long term targets."

Speaking about an increase in crime rate, Ghanekar said, "2011 will see many cases of molestation and rapes.

Many would be punished too. Crimes about rave parties and porn films will be more. The population of call girls will increase and the criminal activities at massage parlours will also see a rise. Even some senior citizens may get involved in such crimes. The Dadoji Konddeo statue controversy will not get solved easily but a long-term solution may be found by May 1." Commenting on a possible terror attack, Jumani and Rathi warned that the police should be more alert this year to prevent such incidents. According to Ghanekar, many freak road accidents may take place in 2011.
