Bollywood glitz at Padma awards
The Bachchan Bahu Aishwarya and Khiladi Akshay Kumar stole the limelight at the Padma awards investiture ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhawan on Tuesday.
While Aishwarya played a perfect wife dangling on the arm of hubby Abhishek, a proud father-in-law Amitabh and mother-in-law Jaya basked in the glory of the moment for the family.
At his formal best, Akshay Kumar looked dapper in a suit and freely mingled with Aishwarya.
After the honour was bestowed upon Aishwarya, Amitabh announced that she had become the fifth Padma Shri awardee in the Bachchan family. "God has been very kind to us. The people of this land have been very kind to us. We are humbled and with bended knee and bowed heads acknowledge your affection and care and love," Big B said.
Veteran dancing queen of yesteryears Helen also got Padma Shri. Playback singers Kumar Sanu and Udit Narayan, Ghazal singer Penaaz Masani and music composer Pandit Hridaynath Mangeshkar were also among the 62 personalities from diverse walks of life who received the Padma awards.
