2 NSG commandos seriously injured during Mumbai terror attack can't wait for action again

On November 27, 2008 they stormed the 18th floor of the Oberoi hotel in Mumbai to break the siege of the commercial capital of India by Pakistani terrorists.

Braving the bullets they were able to free the hostages and kill the intruders but two elite commandos of the National Security Guard, Naik PV Manesh and Capt AK Singh paid heavily for the action.

While Manesh was paralysed, Singh lost sight in one eye. Yet, both are itching to get back in action.

For their exemplary courage the two commandos were awarded Shaurya Chakra on Wednesday.

The incident occurred just weeks before Singh'su00a0 wedding.u00a0 Now, the daredevil is set to tie the knot soon. "I am grateful to the almighty that my injury never made any difference to our relationship," said Capt Singh.

"Today my would be wife is proud of me. My fiancu00e9 is a doctor in the army," Singh said while talking about his fiancu00e9 Captain Madhu Singh. Though, the date of marriage is yet to be fixed the couple is enjoying the break they got after their busy schedule.

Singh has joined the duty again. "I am fortunate to be a part of the team, which flushed out terrorists from the Oberoi Hotel. The injury does not matter though am a bit concerned about my future," he said.

Naik Manesh's lower part of the body was paralysed after a grenade exploded near him. He is waiting eagerly to be back in the thick of action. "Doctors are saying that I will be fully fit in the next eight months but I can't wait that long. I want to join the duty even before that," he said with a brave smile on his face.

Manesh needs a wheelchair to help him move around, but the braveheart is not disillusioned.

"I am a commando and I don't know any other way of life," he said while hoping that his son (one and half year old Yadukrishna) too would become a soldier.
