Besides the ban on plastic, the PMC has also decided to deal strictly with segregation of garbage and will send notices to all residential complexes and hotels in the city.

Head of PMC’s solid waste department, Suresh Jagtap said, “We are appealing to citizens through notices to segregate their domestic garbage. We have ordered garbage collectors not to accept mixed garbage consisting of wet and dry waste.”

Jagtap further said that use of plastic and segregation of garbage are co-related issues, and therefore PMC is taking strict action.

Ghokhale road resident Lata Konde, said, “PMC’s decision to segregate garbage is good, but no one comes to collect garbage in my area.”

Bhandarkar road resident Harshad Oak said they were already segregating their garbage and using wet garbage for their Vermicompost project. He also said no one collects garbage in his area.u00a0
