The Guide catches up with Rana with Roxygen to find out about their new set-up and what they will play at their upcoming performance

Pune-based band Roxygen boasts of a unique name but lovers of Rock music would certainly agree that music is a form of oxygen. "We have been around for the last two years. But now the setup is different and as a two-piece band that includes me and Maniche, we will be playing at Smokies," says Rana.

Roxygen is inspired by global influences and plays a mix of Classic Rock and Blues. "We were a band of three, with Maniche as rock guitarist, Rana on lead vocals and Josh, the experimentative singer, who sings Sufi as well," he elaborates.
The members are all in their 20s and Roxygen has performed all over the country, including at Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Goa and even in Bangkok. The band also took part in the Rockathon that took place in Bangalore. They were one of the two bands that got selected from Pune.
Rana states that the band is influenced by lyrical classics and bands like Pink Floyd, Guns 'n' Roses, Doors and Deep Purple.
Roxygen intends to spread the message of love with their compositions and believe in making music for the audience. This citybased band is very used to the Pune audience. "We think the audiences here are rocking. There is a global mix here and people are really open to all kinds of music.
This keeps bands and artists like us on our toes," he observes.
