"I had dreamt of seeing my daughter in bridal finery. Instead, I am seeing her in a shroud," said Razia Sheikh, who lost seven members of her family, including her husband and 15-year-old daughter, who was the bride-to-be.
The speeding truck loaded with iron pipes that was carrying them from Kalyan on the outskirts of Mumbai to Aland in Karnataka, where the groom lived, overturned at Yavat near Pune yesterday, leaving 19 persons dead.
"My daughter was to be married just five days later. We had purchased so many gifts for her and were really looking forward to the marriage," said the mother.
There were seven women and eight children among those killed.
