A 30-year-old traffic constable suffered severe head injuries when his bike was hit by a private bus at Akbar Road on Thursday night.
A senior police officer said the victim, identified as Anand, was admitted to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital where doctors attending on him stated his condition to be critical. "We have arrested the errant driver of the bus.
He drihas been identified as Vijay Kumar. An FIR against him has been registered under section 279 (rash and negligence driving)," said a senior police officer.
He said the victim constable was attached to the research and development department in the traffic police.
"Anand was heading towards Safdarjung when he met with the accident. The bus driver hit him head-on after losing control over the vehicle. The impact of the collision was such that the victim was thrown off the bike. He hit the road and suffered injuries on the head," the officer said.
