CM inaugurates new roads, subways

Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa inauguratedu00a0widened roads, new subways and bus baysu00a0in the city. This will hopefully ease traffic congestion in some areas.
A surface pass at CBI Junction will provide signal-free movement to Bangalore International Airport (BIA). The surface pass consists of two vents for the to and fro movements of vehicles at RT Nagar.

Two vehicular underpasses are placed 100 meter apart from each other to avoid congestion on service roads. The traffic towards BIA is allowed to move over the underpasses. The cost of the project is Rs 550 lakh.
Kaggadaspura Main Road, which connects Old Madras Road and Airport Road, has been upgraded with a five-layer strengthening at a cost of Rs 895 lakh. A 1.5-meter drainage is built on either sides of the road to prevent overflow of water on the road.
The strengthening and renovation of Bull Temple Road is also completed. The revised length of the road now is 5.94 km. It cost Rs 5.13 crore.
Bus bays have been constructed at Nrupatunga Road at a cost of 42.20 lakh. Work on the drain is also completed. Race Course Road is being widened at a cost of Rs 390.72 lakh, and the asphalting work is completed. Laying of cobbled stones and stone work is pending for both the roads.
A pedestrian underpass is constructed at Rajbhavan Road near Basaveshwara circle to help pedestrians cross the road. It is constructed at a cost of Rs 61 lakh.
Theu00a0Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagar Palike (BBMP) is constructing 100 bus bays in 25 packages, with fouru00a0bus bays in each package. It is being built at a cost of Rs 568 lakh. Of there 10 bus bays are concrete bus bays and 15 packages are asphalt bus bays.
