"Kashinath Mondal (28), a CPI(M) worker, was returning home after casting his vote at Eroali village under Jangipur parliamentary constituency when he was attacked with bombs by some unidentified miscreants," SP BL Meena said, adding that he died on the spot.
The attack took place at a distance of about one km from booth number-139, under Khargram polling station, where Mondal exercised his franchise. No arrest has been made so far in this connection, Meena said.
Meanwhile, two Congress supporters were injured in a clash with CPI(M) workers at a polling booth in Mongaljan primary school under Jangipur LWS constituency at Raghunathganj, the SP said.
The polling was, by and large, peaceful in the district bordering Bangladesh, he added.
