Capt Gopinath to enter poll fray
Captain Gopinath, who spearheaded the low-cost airline model, wanted to contest elections. He has expressed his willingness to enter the Lok Sabha elections from Bangalore central.
He said that he would be contesting as an independent candidate. He told reporters that a decision in this regard will be taken in a day or two.
Considered the father of low cost air travel in India, Gopinath launched country's first low cost airline Air Deccan aimed at making common man's dream of flying a reality.
Air Deccan was later merged into King Fisher Airlines owned by Vijay Mallya.
